Triolet for Marie; Our Feet Lead On
Could not have guessed when fist we met
A friendship found, and found delight
So many weathers, cold and wet
Could not have guessed when first we met
In confidence, despairing let
Our feet lead on, hearts warm, shared sight
Could not have guessed when first we met
A friendship found, and found delight

For my Father On Easter Two Years Since
Ah morning, green reminder of the life
That goes on after loss
My heart is bent in remembrance:
that walk under stars, when the wind changed
If God lives in our healing-over places
I’ll take it- a cautious reassurance
Soft in the face of every hard thing
The lessons of bedsides
How love lets in the world’s
wreckage and reconstructions
Hawks on the fence wire, song bird I hear
but cannot see through the lace of trees
